Warren Reed

Co-Founder & CEO of OppZo

Warren Reed is the Founder, Chairman & CEO of OppZo, Inc., a Miami headquartered, AI lending and payments platform for federal government contractors.  Since launching, he has raised $260 million in equity and balance sheet capital to power the business.

Reed spent the early part of his career as a derivatives trader and investment professional for Lehman Brothers & Barclays Capital. His experiences there exposed him to the world of trading and structured finance, which provided him valuable experience needed to start OppZo and design affordable working capital solutions.

Warren also spent time in public service. He was appointed to the U.S. Treasury during President Obama’s second term where he led a program supporting the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) including the Treasury Secretary to help make the financial system more resilient.

After his time in public service, he joined JPMorgan as an Executive Director in the Wholesale Payments Division. He co-founded a new group that builds AI-driven data products for Fortune 500 clients to make better cash management decisions. And, while he experienced success helping large Fortune 500 companies, he yearned to start a business to put his efforts towards helping small and medium-sized businesses, empowering those business owners to have a long-lasting impact.

His vision was to use his business experience to help businesses that perform work for the government gain access to affordable capital to help government contractors grow their businesses. Ultimately, the goal is to build a suite of tools to help government contractors scale, flourish, and win.

When asked where his inspiration comes from, Reed says,  “My father and my co-founder were government contractors and I saw their challenges and how they had to overcome them with my own eyes. It’s truly important for me to be a part of the solution for government contractors around the country and help them not only to survive but also to thrive.”Reed earned his Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and earned a Masters in Data Science and Informatics at New York University.  Reed served as class president at Columbia University and founded Kleos Financial Group, helping underserved Columbia students get the training they needed to attain internships and jobs on Wall Street.
